Weather Forecast

The ERCOT Weather Forecast is developed by ERCOT Meteorologists Chris Coleman and Mark Witte. The interactive map displays today’s temperature information for major cities located within the ERCOT grid. Hover over a city to see the most recent temperature forecast.

Note: A Weather Zone is a geographic region designated by ERCOT in which climatological characteristics are similar for all areas within such region. This map displays the various Weather Zones that exist within the ERCOT footprint, but it does not necessarily include all counties that have participation within the ERCOT market.

Weather Forecast Details

General Discussion:
Showers and thunderstorms, some possibly severe, are forecast across South Texas and the immediate Gulf Coast today. Otherwise, isolated showers and (non-severe) thunderstorms are possible across Texas, with Dallas and Houston being more favored this afternoon. The atmosphere will be unseasonably hot over the weekend and into early next week as an upper-level ridge of high pressure builds into Texas from Mexico. In addition, humidity levels are also forecast to increase into early next week, which will make the heat more uncomfortable. A passing upper-level disturbance across the midsection of the country may provide some relief in the form of increased rain chances and slightly cooler temperatures by next Wednesday and Thursday. However, the unseasonably hot and dry conditions are forecast to return to Texas by Memorial Day weekend.

Today:
Partly to mostly cloudy, slightly warmer, with a chance of an isolated shower or non-severe thunderstorm. Afternoon highs in the mid-80s. A light west or north wind at around 5 mph.

Saturday:
Mostly sunny and unseasonably hot. Morning lows in the mid- to upper-60s. Afternoon highs in the low- to mid-90s. A south wind of around 5 mph.

Sunday:
Sunny, more humid, and continued unseasonably hot. Morning lows near 70. Afternoon highs in the low- to mid-90s. A south wind of around 5 to 10 mph with higher gusts.
